Ready your controllers, get set, go – eFootball tournament at Flottweg

On Saturday, May 7 2022, the time had come: An eFootball tournament for enthusiastic gamers took place at Flottweg for the first time. In cooperation with the eFootball department of the Bavarian Football Association (BFV), the FIFA tournament was held in Flottweg’s new Plant 2, from 12 noon to 4 pm.

 

The games were played in 2vs2 mode on high-quality gaming stations equipped with the latest PlayStation 5 consoles and high-resolution gaming screens. The participants were also provided with refreshments. The entire tournament was streamed via the BFV eFootball Twitch account and accompanied by a live commentator. The field of participants was made up of regional and supra-regional players, with young people from the greater Vilsbiburg area in particular taking part.

 

The eSports tournament was initially divided into group rounds, followed by the semifinals and ultimately the finals with the two best teams. The final match was between TSV Velden and FC Staubi from Vilsbiburg. With a goal in extra time, the two Vilsbiburg players were able to score the decisive goal and thus decide the tournament in their favor. As the winners of the tournament, they were awarded tickets to an FC Bavaria soccer match. TSV Velden was awarded Beats headphones for their second place and the team in third place was given a Sportscheck voucher worth 100€. In addition, all players participated in a raffle to win a CUBE mountain bike. 

 

Flottweg launched the tournament as part of Strategy 2025: Flottweg has set itself the goal of being the most popular employer in the region. Flottweg organized the Fifa tournament particularly to attract young talents in a modern way. The idea for the event originated already in 2019 and could now finally be implemented together with the BFV. For Stephanie Moritz, Personnel Officer at Flottweg, the event was a success: "The atmosphere was great throughout the tournament and the young people clearly had fun playing in the teams of two. The feedback from the participants was really positive and it was also a great opportunity for us to get to know the young people. At Flottweg, we will continue to pursue new ways of addressing young adults in the future." At a training booth, gamers also had the opportunity to learn more about the professional world at Flottweg.
