Thrilling Celebration of 75 Years of Flottweg in Vilsbiburg

On Saturday, Oct. 20, one of the biggest festivals in Flottweg's recent history took place in the Stadthalle in Vilsbiburg:  the company celebrated 75 years of conducting business in Vilsbiburg with a festive evening. While taking a nostalgic look back on the history of Flottweg, the event also emphasized the company's commitment to Vilsbiburg, which is evident in the new construction of a second plant that has recently gotten underway.

From airplanes to bicycles with auxiliary motors, from catwalks for the printing industry to separation technology, the rich history of Flottweg is truly multi-faceted. Amidst the turmoil of war in the 1940s, the company left its original headquarters in Munich and moved to Vilsbiburg in Lower Bavaria, some 80 kilometers away. Since the 1960s, the location has built state-of-the-art solutions for mechanical solid-liquid separation.

The richly decorated Stadthalle was the backdrop for Fritz Colesan, Flottweg's chairman of the board, when he stood in front of the 600 invited guests and said, "Today we can look back on a success story that can be celebrated with a clear conscience."  In view of a series of current technical and organizational changes in the company and the construction of a second Flottweg plant in the city that has just begun, Colesan spoke of "simply phenomenal" performance by the workforce – even more impressive against the background of a 20 percent increase in orders.

The 75th anniversary celebration at the Vilsbiburg location was very colorful and varied. Peter Bruckmayer, former managing director and current supervisory board member, and Fritz Colesan led the audience through a recap of the company's exciting history. Their speeches were followed by a discussion among representatives of the city, district, government of Lower Bavaria, and one worker. The event was crowned by a special gift: Flottweg employees had formed a "boy band" to serenade Peter Bruckmayer, who was also celebrating his 75th birthday that same day.

A huge fireworks display was the highlight of the evening, the grand finale of a successful event.
