Starting working life together: Flottweg welcomes new apprentices
On September 1, 2025, 27 new apprentices began their working lives at Flottweg, the Vilsbiburg-based specialist for separation technology. With a total of 74 apprentices this year, Flottweg is once again one of the leading training companies in the Landshut district.

All in all, 17 industrial mechanics, 6 mechatronics engineers, 2 warehouse logistics specialists and 2 industrial clerks with additional qualifications as certified specialists in foreign language communication have started out at Flottweg. With these the mechanical engineering firm has therefore once again achieved a record in terms of its number of apprentices this year.
To enable the apprentices and training staff to get to know each other a little better, the new arrivals started with a multi-day welcome camp. “Our welcome days have become an important tradition and a significant source of support in facilitating communication on equal terms from day one,” explains training manager Daniel Wimmer. “Experience from the past years has shown that this approach helps to create a friendly atmosphere in the team and makes it easier for the apprentices to get started with their working lives. It also allows the new apprentices to get to know Flottweg better as an employer.”

Creating the basis: the training workshop at Flottweg
The internal training workshop is initially the central port of call for the industrial mechanic and mechatronic technician apprenticeship occupations. It provides training in the technical basics and imparts practical skills up to part 1 of the final examination. From the second half of the second year of the apprenticeship, the training takes place directly in the plant. There, the apprentices work their way through various assignment fields in the production halls – in the manufacturing, assembly, plant construction or quality control, for example.
“We attribute considerable importance to fair collaboration and teamwork – in our everyday work as well as during projects and joint events,” explains training manager Wimmer. “Creativity, team spirit, solutions-oriented work and craftsmanship are in demand during the execution of our wide range of apprenticeship projects. Everyone is able to bring their own individual contribution and to actively shape their project.”
