Separation Down to the Last Drop
Separators for separating liquidsIf two liquids have to be separated, purifiers (3-phase separators, purifiers) are usually used. They separate liquid phases of different densities from each other and simultaneously separate the remaining fine solid residues. Decades of experience make Flottweg separators high-quality, durable and efficient.
Due to their special configuration, Flottweg purifier separators are optimally configured for the separation and discharge of two liquids and one solid phase. The 3-phase separator offers optimized flow conditions within the bowl to ensure maximum separation efficiency. Also with this disk separator, the discharge of solids is hardly audible.
Maximum Yield Under Changing Feed Conditions
The Flottweg Impellizer System enables precise and flexible adjustment of the separation zone within the separator during operation. This ensures stable separation performance even under fluctuating feed conditions, maximizing product yield and process efficiency.
Flexible Solids Discharge for Greater Efficiency
With Soft Shot® FLEX, solids discharge can be tailored precisely to process requirements through any combination of partial and full discharges. Flexible discharge volumes and variable bowl speeds reduce product losses, increase yield, and lower energy consumption. Gentle, low-noise operation also protects machine components and helps reduce maintenance costs.
Reliable Operation Under Unstable Power Conditions
The Flottweg Safety Shot ensures safe and reliable separator operation in the event of power failures or unstable power grids. By using the separator's existing rotational energy, the system enables controlled deceleration, automatic emptying and filling with process water.
How the 3-phase separator operates
The product to be clarified runs through a stationary inlet pipe into the interior of the bowl and is gently accelerated to full speed by the distributor. The disc stack in the bowl divides the product stream into many thin layers, thus creating a large surface area. Within the disc stack, the liquid mixture is separated and the solids are discharged.
The liquid phases separated by centrifugal force are discharged from the bowl under pressure via two centripetal pumps. Due to the strong centrifugal force, the separated solids settle at the edge of the bowl. The separated solids are expelled periodically at full speed by a hydraulic system located in the lower part of the bowl.

Liquid Gold from Andalusia
Over 90 percent of all olives are harvested in the Mediterranean region. One of the most important cultivation areas is Andalusia. Flottweg machines are in use in many companies in the southern Spanish region, for example at Virgen del Voto SL in the city of Bujalance. In order to obtain the "liquid gold" in the highest purity, the manufacturer relies on Flottweg separator technology for oil clarification and refinement.
Features of the 3-Phase Separator
Centripetal Pump
The centripetal pump ensures optimum discharge of the clarified liquids from the centrifuge. It discharges the clarified liquid under pressure from the separator bowl and prevents the product from foaming.
Lubrication system
A lubrication circulation system provides fully automatic lubrication of the bowl spindle bearings. By supplying the optimum amount of oil at regular intervals, it ensures reliable bearing protection. As a result, precise lubrication is achieved regardless of operating speed.
Disc stack
Located inside the separator bowl, the disc stack is responsible for the separation of the liquid mixture. Its numerous conical discs, arranged vertically, provide a substantially enlarged clarification area. This increased surface area contributes directly to higher separation efficiency and improved process performance.
InGo
The Flottweg separators are controlled by our InGo operating philosophy. It enables optimum interaction of all process components and shows all important process parameters at a glance.
