Flottweg Announces 2026 Spin Academy: Protein Applications—A Premier Learning Event for the Fast-Growing Plant Protein Market

Hands-on training, expert education, and live system demonstrations focused on scalable, hygienic plant protein processing and separation technology.

Independence, KY — Flottweg Separation Technology will host the upcoming Spin Academy: Protein Applications 2026, a two-day educational and networking event designed for leaders in food processing, product development, and plant-based protein manufacturing. The event will take place March 24–25, 2026 at Flottweg’s U.S. headquarters in Independence, Kentucky.

As demand for sustainable, high-performance plant protein ingredients accelerates globally, manufacturers are seeking scalable, hygienic, and efficient processing solutions that support high yields and purity standards. The Spin Academy will address these needs through expert-led sessions, hands-on demonstrations, and process discussions with global equipment and technology specialists.

“Plant-based ingredients are no longer niche—they are central to the future of food,” said Mathias Aschenbrenner, global head of plant protein solutions for Flottweg Separation Technology. “This event gives processors the chance to learn directly from technology experts, evaluate system design strategies, and understand how advanced separation technology can unlock higher protein functionality, yield, and commercial performance.”

A Program Built for Producers Scaling the Next Generation of Food

The curriculum features presentations from leading experts across the protein processing and research ecosystem, including:

  • Dr. Benjamin Fuchs, Strategic Portfolio Director – Grain Processing, IFF
  • Dr. Nikhita Mansukhani Kogar, Principal Scientist, Plant-Based, Good Food Institute

Attendees will learn about wet fractionation system design, protein purification workflows, fiber and starch valorization strategies, and methods for achieving high functional performance across various crops including peas, lentils, fava beans, lupines, and soy. Wet fractionation has become the preferred approach for producers seeking high-value ingredient streams — including protein isolates, starch, and functional fiber — while minimizing waste and improving sustainability.

Live Demonstrations of Industry-Leading Systems

Participants will have the opportunity to see real-time demonstrations of:

  • Decanter centrifuges for extraction and coagulation
  • Sedicanter® technology for fine, fragile protein recovery
  • Belt presses for efficient fiber dewatering

These systems are engineered with hygienic design, high automation, and CIP capabilities, enabling producers to scale safely and efficiently — from R&D pilot lines to full production.

Registration and Audience

The event is designed for:

  • R&D and process engineers
  • Ingredient developers and food technologists
  • Operations, procurement, and innovation leaders evaluating protein equipment investments

Attendance is limited, and the event will target highly qualified companies exploring or expanding processing capabilities within the fast-growing plant protein sector. Flottweg’s goal is to host at least 25 qualified attendees, generating technical engagement, lead development, and post-event facility and pilot trial requests.
