Flottweg Supports the “Aktion Deutschland Hilft” campaign
They were shocking images. On July 14 and 15, heavy rainfall near the Ahr River in northern Rhineland-Palatinate triggered flash floods and submerged large parts of the valley under water. Villages in the Eifel moutain range, Trier-Ehrang, and Kordel in the Trier-Saarburg district were also flooded. More than 140 people died in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, and 47 people died in the neighboring state of North Rhine-Westphalia. These scenes caused much consternation at Flottweg SE. With a regional sales office in Rhineland and several machines installed in the area, Flottweg employees regularly travel in the region.
The decision to help was made very quickly. Employees were given the chance to voluntarily donate a portion of their August salary to the flood victims. This campaign was met with great approval. Nearly $19,000 was collected from employees in just two weeks. Flottweg itself also contributed nearly $40,000 to the campaign, for a combined total donation of nearly $59,000. The collected funds will benefit the German relief coalition, “Aktion Deutschland Hilft”.
The Works Council and the Management Board of Flottweg SE worked together to promote the project, and were very pleased with the result. “We were impressed by our colleagues’ willingness to donate. And we are extremely pleased that Flottweg management increased the donation by such a generous amount,” says Chairman of the Works Council Alexander Mautz.
As the donation was handed over, CFO and HR Director of Flottweg SE Peter Frankfurter expressly thanked the participating employees: “We are very proud that so many people participated in the fundraiser. I would like to thank all employees from the bottom of my heart. This is another example of the wonderful team spirit that exists in our company.”
