Flottweg Wins 2026 WEFTEC Sustainable Booth Award, Reinforcing Commitment to Environmental Responsibility

Flottweg Separation Technology has been named the winner of the 2026 WEFTEC Sustainable Booth Award, recognizing the company's innovative approach to environmentally responsible exhibit design and operations. Presented by the Water Environment Federation (WEF) during WEFTEC 2026, held September 26–30 in New Orleans, the award celebrates exhibitors that demonstrate exceptional commitment to sustainability through thoughtful material selection, waste reduction, energy efficiency and environmentally conscious practices.

Now in its second year, the Sustainable Booth Award recognizes companies that go beyond showcasing sustainable solutions to incorporate environmental responsibility into their own trade show operations. Flottweg earned this year's distinction through a carefully designed exhibit that prioritized reusable materials, resource conservation, efficient logistics and sustainable transportation.

Sustainability in Every Detail

Flottweg's award-winning booth incorporated a variety of environmentally conscious design elements that reduced waste and emphasized resource efficiency without compromising the visitor experience.

Handcrafted wooden furnishings provided a durable, reusable alternative to traditional exhibit materials, while rented and reusable greenery created an inviting atmosphere without generating unnecessary waste. The booth also incorporated reusable digital signage, reducing the need for disposable printed graphics and promotional materials.

Beyond the physical exhibit, Flottweg took a comprehensive approach to minimizing the environmental impact of its participation. A single-shipment booth design helped streamline transportation logistics, while the use of local labor supported the surrounding community and reduced the need for additional travel.

“Sustainability is more than the technologies we develop. It's a responsibility that should influence how we operate, how we engage with our customers and how we represent our company,” said Daniel Lakovic, Flottweg’s Business Development Manager. “We approached WEFTEC with the same mindset we bring to our engineering solutions: finding smarter ways to use resources, minimize waste and create lasting value. Receiving this recognition from the Water Environment Federation is a tremendous honor and a reflection of our team's commitment to putting those principles into practice.”

The company's sustainability efforts also extended to visitor engagement. An electric bicycle giveaway encouraged attendees to consider environmentally friendly transportation alternatives, reinforcing the message that even everyday choices can contribute to a more sustainable future.

Together, these initiatives demonstrated how thoughtful planning and practical decisions can make a meaningful difference in the environmental footprint of major industry events.

Extending Sustainability Beyond the Exhibit Floor

For Flottweg, the recognition reflects a broader philosophy that sustainability should be integrated into every aspect of business operations, from equipment engineering and manufacturing to customer relationships and industry engagement.

As a global provider of mechanical separation technology, Flottweg helps municipal and industrial facilities address critical environmental challenges, including wastewater treatment, sludge dewatering, resource recovery and process efficiency. Its centrifuge technologies are engineered to help operators maximize resource utilization, reduce waste and improve operational performance.

The WEFTEC Sustainable Booth Award reinforces this commitment by recognizing the company's efforts to apply those same environmental principles to its own activities.

By embracing reusable exhibit components, reducing transportation requirements and promoting responsible material use, Flottweg demonstrated that sustainability is not limited to the technologies companies develop. It also encompasses the decisions they make in conducting everyday business.

Showcasing the Next Generation of Separation Technology

In addition to receiving the sustainability award, Flottweg used WEFTEC 2026 to showcase its latest innovation, the FW400 Decanter, a next-generation separation platform designed to address evolving performance, efficiency and operational requirements in wastewater treatment.

Engineered around three key principles—Performance Boost, Flex Concept and Human-Centered Design—the FW400 combines enhanced separation capabilities with greater operational flexibility and simplified maintenance. Increased bowl speed, optimized geometry and expanded torque capabilities support higher throughput, while its energy-efficient super-deep pond design improves separation performance while reducing energy consumption.

The FW400's modular design allows facilities to adapt equipment configurations to changing process requirements, helping extend equipment versatility and long-term investment value. Operator-focused features, including improved housing seals, easier maintenance access and reduced noise levels, further support reliability and operational efficiency.

Together, these advancements reflect Flottweg's ongoing commitment to developing technologies that help wastewater facilities achieve greater productivity while managing energy consumption, resources and operating costs.

The recognition at WEFTEC 2026 highlights a common principle connecting Flottweg's technologies and its business practices: meaningful sustainability is achieved through thoughtful engineering, responsible resource management and a commitment to continuous improvement.
